Easter Weekend in San Antonio
Stop #1: San Antonio Zoo!!
Over this past year, one of my friends and I have taken interest in an animal called the capybara. It is the worlds largest rodent with origins in South America. Recently, the San Antonio Zoo introduced a baby capybara to its animal population prompting our visit. We spent a lot of time watching the capybara, picking up on its mannerisms and interactions with its adult counterparts. One specific behavior we noticed was that the capybaras enjoyed flicking their ears. Upon research, we discovered that this was a result of trying to keep insects away. Tupi - the baby capybara - was very energetic and loved eating, bathing, and observing its neighbor, the anteater.
Our next adventure was to the Japanese Tea Gardens. This free garden in San Antonio amazed me with its simplistic beauty. The flowers, greenery, and waterfall were all admirable aspects of the garden. There were also some Koi Fish located in one of the ponds. I have attached photos of the flowers, fish, and views below.
Overall, this was an enjoyable and memorable trip. I'm grateful for the opportunity to observe a variety of plants and animals during our day off from school. As the class comes to a close, I look forward to reflecting on everything I’ve learned, it’s already clear that this experience has had a meaningful impact on me.
Thanks for describing your Easter weekend San Antonio visit. Glad you had a chance to see that capybara. They are social animals, so I hope the zoo adopts a couple more. they can be affectionate with humans.
