Journal Entry #10: Fort Worth Zoo Excursion!

Journal Entry # 10
Fort Worth Zoo Excursion

Ending the class with an adventure to the zoo was such a fun and memorable experience. With finals and the end of the semester approaching, it was incredibly refreshing to have the chance to step outside the classroom and enjoy something lighthearted. Visiting a well-known Fort Worth landmark that I had never taken the time to explore before made the outing even more special.

I was genuinely impressed by the Fort Worth Zoo. Beyond the animals, the natural scenery throughout the zoo was peaceful and surprisingly calming. It felt more like a nature walk than just a zoo visit, which added to the overall experience. One of my favorite parts was the section dedicated to Texas wilderness. It was so cool to see animals native to the state, and the highlight there was definitely the alligator chilling in the water!

If I had to pick a favorite exhibit, I’d say it was the giraffes. They were especially lively that day many were eating, some were bending their long necks in odd but amusing ways, and one was even resting with its legs curled underneath it. Watching them was very entertaining.

This trip to the zoo was also a perfect way to close out my semester because, funny enough, it has turned into a bit of an animal-themed season for me. Earlier this year, I visited the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center and the San Antonio Zoo. Each location had its own charm and standout features, but visiting the Fort Worth Zoo felt extra meaningful. Since I go to school in the city and drive by the zoo nearly every week, it was special to finally take the time to stop, explore, and appreciate a place that’s been right there all along.

  1. Iam glad you had a nice excursion to the FW zoo. There are issues about zoos in general--keeping wild animals captive for the enjoyment of humans--but the FW zoo does a good job with edcuation and conservation.
