Journal Entry #6: 3/27 Fort Worth Nature Center
3/27 Trip to Fort Worth Nature Center
Now that we're back from spring break and our focus has shifted to creating video trail guides, we had the opportunity to spend today’s class exploring some of the trails that the center offers. Considering Texas, particularly the DFW area, is known for its relatively flat landscape, I was curious to see what these hiking trails had to offer. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by what I found. The trail my group explored had a respectable amount of elevation gain, and along the way, we were treated to views of some bodies of water. At times, I felt completely immersed in nature, surrounded only by trees and bushes. Although I spotted a few butterflies, I was hoping to encounter more wildlife and insects. Perhaps I just need to spend more time on the trail to see more. One of the things I truly loved was how lush and green everything was. It was such a relief to finally experience the season where everything isn't dead and brown, and the greenery really brought the landscape to life. Getting the chance to hike this trail and gain a deeper understanding of what the nature center has to offer has inspired me to put even more effort into my work for the rest of the semester. I now feel even more motivated to showcase the beauty of the scenery in our video guides.
This experience has helped me understand how valuable these online trial guides could be. I think it is likely that people in the area are unaware of what is out there and what the center has available. They could be like me, understanding that the nature center exists, but spectacle as to the quality of trails and experiences they have. By including some of the trails online, I feel people will be able to understand more of what is available, and therefore feel more inclined to take a visit to the nature center. I know that there is so much more out there - beyond what just our class explored - and am exited to get the opportunity to explore.

Thanks for posting about walking the ridge trail. There was indeed ups and downs along the way. And some nice views. I was happy to trail along. I look forward to seeing your trail guides.
